Council Compensation
When I first ran for council in 2022, I did so without realizing there was compensation. I hadn't really given compensation a lot of thought, I just wanted to make a difference and believed that sitting on council was a great way to do that. I was, and remain against a massive increase in council compensation.
Should Aurora Slow New Growth?
I do not believe Aurora needs to slow development, so much as we need to ensure that what we do develop is done with purpose, gives respect to our history, and thinks about the future. Attempting to slow development, especially when the proposals fit our official plan puts us at risk of losing our voice and doesn’t instill trust from higher levels of government.
0% Tax Increase
I do not believe a 0% tax increase is smart economic policy. Aurora tried it in the late 1990’s and it led to tax increases averaging 7.2% in the 7 years that followed.
Municipal services are fundamental to the operation of the town and overall resident satisfaction. Of course, we all have slightly differing opinions on what the town can do to support complete satisfaction, but generally we agree on the following things.
